  • The repair and renovation work on a massive square at the Forbidden City is under way to preserve the imperial palace complex which was built during the Ming Dynasty from 1406 to 1420. Covering an area of 14,200 square meters, the open space between the Hall of Supreme Harmony and the Gate of Supreme Harmony was seriously damaged due to lack of repair and maintenance, resulting in bumps and hollows on the ground and bringing much trouble to millions of tourists visiting the palace every year.
