Story

  • China's largest mountaintop solar power station nears completion amid efforts on emission-cut pledge (2015-01-12)
  • China is increasing investments in clean energy sector as the country has pledged to reduce carbon emission by 2020. Construction of solar, wind and nuclear power projects are ongoing across China including the country's largest mountain-terrain photovoltaic power station in south China's Sichuan province. The Wanjiashan Photovoltaic Power Complex in Yanbian county of Panzhihua city includes two stations, one on the southern side of Wanjiashan Mountain with 30,000 KW of capacity and the other on the north with 1.2 million KW. Covering an area of 45,000 mu (3,000 hectares or 30 square kilometers), the northern station is composed of nine solar power fields which is able to generate an average of 1.644 billion kw hours of electricity annually when completed in February 2015.    Photo by Imaginechina
